中国（陕西省）与德国文物科技保护方面的合作开始于1990年，至今已逾20多年的历史。其间于1999年和2009年在西安分别召开了两届以彩绘文物保护与研究为主题的国际研讨会。本书是2013年9月在西安举办的第三届文物科技保护研讨会：中德合作“秦俑及彩绘文物保护与研究学术研讨会”会议论文集，本文集辑录了过去五年间中德文物科技保护合作的主要成果，是对双方过去五年乃至过去20年成果的汇集。内容包括陶质彩绘文物、金属文物、石质文物、纺织品文物保护与研究。
