一、从1992年开始，我们每年出版一本年鉴类的《中国》小百科，以介绍中国的基本情况为主，向读者展示中国在政治、经济、文化等各领域的现状与发展变化。二、主要内容是：《中国》作为外国读者了解中国的入门读物，除了保留一些基本史实和信息外，大幅增加了中国近年来的发展和变化的资料。从中，我们可以看到中国的国际往来、经济增长、环境保护、科技与教育、文化交流和社会生活等各个方面的最新动态，以帮助读者全面深入地认知中国。 三、《中国》2015版在过去的基础上进行一次较大幅度的改动，基本思路是： 1、突出基本情况、基本信息。使该书在今后的年度出版图书中形成鲜明的内容特色。 2、避免呆板、生硬。在内容的撷取（包括文字、图片与图表）、编写方式，以及编排设计上，寻求创新，以利于该书达到简明、易读、好用的效果。 3、具体措施：一方面，避免使用过多的动态经济数据，请各领域的专家着重进行中国基本情况的介绍，着重反映相对稳定的文化形态、经济状态、体制情况等。另一方面，当年的重大事件仍将作为附录出现，但是标题设计将相对灵活，利于下一年度的继续使用。另外，增加撰写每个篇章的篇章导读文字，增强该书的权威性、严谨性和可读性，有利于读者对每个篇章的主体内容有精要的了解。
