作者简介
冯友兰（1895—1990），字芝生，河南唐河人。哲学家,哲学史家。曾就学于北京大学、哥伦比亚大学，获哥伦比亚大学哲学博士学位。1928年起，任清华大学哲学系教授兼哲学系主任、文学院院长、校务会议主席。抗战期间任西南联大哲学系主任兼文学院院长。1952 年起任北京大学哲学系教授，为中国科学院哲学社会科学学部委员。
主要著作有《中国哲学史》、《新理学》、《新事论》、《新世训》、《新原人》、《新原道》、《新知言》等。论著编为《三松堂全集》。

本书特色
《中国哲学简史》成稿于1946年至1947年冯友兰受聘美国宾夕法尼亚大学期间，为中国哲学史课程讲稿，于1948年由美国麦克米伦公司出版。本书以二十余万字深入浅出地讲述了几千年的中国哲学史，不仅一直是世界许多大学中国哲学的通用教材，更成为许多西方人了解中国思想文化的入门书。此次出版为英汉对照版本，中文译文采用赵复三译本。
