当前，随着国家“一带一路、互联互通”总体发展策略的制定和实施，随着我国大批企业跨出国门、参与全球经济活动，面对物流市场国际化的迅速发展与激烈竞争，对从事国际物流货运代理人员的素质要求越来越高，社会物资流通和物流产业发展急需大量具有知识技能、懂操作、会应用的复合实用型货运代理英语专门人才。
外语是涉外服务的工具，也是对外交流的重要手段。英语是国际经济业务的通用语言和主要交际工具，国际物流货运代理从业人员的英语应用水平直接影响着我国物流业的发展速度与服务质量。为了满足日益增长的外向型物流市场需求，培养社会急需的国际物流货运代理运作应用型外语人才，我们组织全国多所高等院校中长年从事货运代理英语教学和实践活动的专家教授共同精心编写了本书，旨在提高大学生和物流企业从业者的专业英语应用水平，更好地服务于我国的物流产业。
货运代理英语是大学物流管理专业的核心课程，也是国际物流货运代理从业者必须掌握的关键技能。本书作为普通高等教育物流管理专业的特色教材，全书共12章，以学生应用能力培养为主线，坚持科学发展观，严格按照“加强职业教育、突出实践技能培养”的要求，根据国际物流货运代理发展的新特点，按照货运代理业务流程和操作规范，系统介绍询价议价、接单揽货、仓储订舱、包装、装货、调拨转运、卸货、制单、报关报检、结算、索赔与理赔等货运代理英语基础知识，并通过指导学生实训，提高其应用能力。
本书融入了国际物流货运代理英语最新的实践教学理念，突出“以任务为导向，以学生为核心”的教育模式，注重从业就业能力实训，因此既可作为普通高等院校本科物流管理、工商管理、国际贸易等专业的首选教材，同时兼顾高职高专、应用型大学的教学，也可用于物流企业员工在职岗位培训，并为外贸、物流企业开拓国际业务提供有益的学习指导。
