《中国京剧百部经典英译系列：拾玉镯》讲述了明朝，陕西孙家庄少女孙玉姣坐在门前绣花，被青年陕西指挥傅朋偶然看见。傅朋爱慕上孙玉姣，便借买鸡为名，和孙玉姣说起话来。傅朋的潇洒多情也打动了孙玉姣的心。傅朋故意将一只玉镯丢落在她的门前，孙玉姣便含羞地拾起了它，表示愿意接受傅朋的情意。两个人的心愿都被刘媒婆看出了，乃访玉娇，诱出真情，她便出头向孙玉姣索要信物绣鞋，帮这对有情人撮合这件好事，完成了这幕喜剧。
