本书是一套短期强化汉语教材，以结构、功能、文化相结合为原则，以话题和功能意念为手段，以刚来中国的外国人经常碰到的交际场合为背景。
本书共21个话题，上册10个，下册11个。一个话题即一课，每课分为三个部分，供不同水平的学生灵活选用。
