作者简介
华南理工大学广州学院外国语学院教授、副院长，研究领域是英美文学和英语教学。兼任广东省本科院校大学英语课程教学指导委员会委员，全国独立学院暨转设民办高校英语教学研究会常务理事，广州市会展行业协会理事，广州市会展经济研究中心专家，曾任广东省大学英语教学指导委员会秘书长。主编教材20多部。发表论文30多篇.
本书特色
该教材是针对珠宝专业大二、大三学生编写的一本专业英语教材，旨在帮助学生通过讲解专业知识的篇章来学习英语。本书共10单元，分别从珠宝简介、宝石特征和分类、知名珠宝及其历史、珠宝鉴定、钻石、宝石(红宝石、兰宝石、绿宝石)、多晶宝石、珍珠、珠宝设计、珠宝商业，对珠宝进行了系统性的介绍。每个单元共分五个部分：引入、对话、阅读、练习、扩展性阅读。练习题型多样，既有针对课文知识点的复习巩固，又有词汇、语法、翻译、听写等语言基本功的练习，也有小组活动项目练习。在每单元的最后，还附有该单元出现的一些词汇、短语。
