Randy Rodgers

Randy Rodgers is the Director of Digital Learning Services for Seguin ISD. Before entering the ed tech field, Randy was an elementary and middle school teacher and was Birdville ISD’s secondary teacher of the year in 2000.

Randy believes that educational technologies only achieve their potential when students are given greater empowerment. While the current accountability system and curricula restrict relinquishing control, we can and should still give students opportunities to explore, experiment, connect, innovate, and productively fail. When we give students greater freedom to express learning in imaginative ways, and when we free them from our limiting expectations, we open the doors to boundless possibilities. Randy says, “The real value of the Lego set doesn’t come until the kid takes it apart and realizes they’ve lost the instructions.”

Away from work, Randy spends quality time with his elementary PE teacher wife of 20 years and 2 brilliant kids. He is trying to wrap up his dissertation and was recently elected Area 13 TCEA Director.
