本书以中国20个省会城市为研究区，基于DMSP／OLS夜间灯光数据和能源统计数据之间的定量关联，在地级市尺度上模拟了能源消费的空间格局，并利用空间格局指数定量揭示城市空间形态，采用面板数据模型探讨能源消耗与城市空间形态之间耦合关系。在此基础上通过构建元胞自动机模型模拟城市未来空间形态演变与能源消耗。本书可为国土空间规划、能源政策制定和生态环境保护提供科学的理论依据，对推动区域可持续发展、深化人地关系研究具有重要意义。
